Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers
are asked to continue on the present rota. Because of summer
holidays some ministers may be away and other ministers present
in the church are asked to fill in where necessary. The induction
of new Eucharistic Ministers will take place in the autumn.
Cleaning
of Church

McDaid’s Team who cleaned the Church during the month
of June.
Lifeline

Lifeline is a new
regional 24/7 helpline funded by the Department of Health,
Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) in response to
the action outlined in the suicide prevention strategy, Protect
life: A shared vision. Lifeline calls are answered by trained
counsellors who are experienced in dealing with suicide, self-harm,
abuse, trauma, depression and anxiety. The number is: 0808
808 8000, lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and
calls are free from all landlines and mobile phones. A textphone
service is also available on 18001 0808 808 8000.
Blood Transfusion
Service

The N.I. Blood Transfusion
Service will be in St. Pat’s Hall, Barrack Street, Strabane
on Wednesday 23 July from 1.30pm - 4.00pm and from 5.15pm
- 8.00pm. New Donors and existing donors are encouraged to
attend.

Melmount Folk Group
Aims: To provide liturgical music at Mass
or any other sacred celebrations.
The group sing each week at the vigil Mass on Saturday evening
and rehearsals take place on a fortnightly basis.
Legion of Mary

Aims: To bring spiritual help to members
and to those they visit.
Activities: Visiting the sick; lonely; old;
hospitals; homes; promotion of the rosary through circulation
of the statue of Our Lady in the parish; book barrow for spiritual
literature.
“SPRED” (Special Religious Education
Division)
Melmount Centre, Strabane
Aims: Catechesis of the developmentally disabled
Activities: Spred is a diocesan network of
parish based communities, whose primary aim is the faith development
and parish integration of those with mild or severe learning
difficulties (mentally handicapped). Also, it is an on-going
adult faith development programme for those who volunteer
to help.
Third Tyrone Scouting Ireland Group
Mr Charlie Brown
Aims: To contribute to the development of
its members in achieving their full spiritual, intellectual,
physical, social and cultural potential as individuals so
that they may take a constructive place in society.
Activities: Exploring/compass work; mapping;
orienteering; hiking; climbing; camp craft (rope work, tying,
cooking, pioneering etc.); physical fitness and first aid
training; communications; water activities; international
camping.
St Vincent de Paul Society
Aims: To help members grow in the love of
God and their neighbours through direct personal services
to others.
Main Activities: Visitation, hospitals and
Greenfield Home; personal visits; bus for elderly; outings
and holidays for elderly; helping those in need.
Knights of St Columbanus

“SEARCH” Youth Group
Termonbacca, Derry

Aims: For young people to meet regularly
to pray and to share with each other their experiences of
life. Getting to know about the opposite sex.

To date 9,000-10,000 young people have taken part in the programme.
Search is for young adults ranging from 17-24 years of age.
